Okay, once again I am saying I am going to blog better. You are probably like blah blah blah whatever you say! Well, I am on this to-do list kick, so I am going to just blog about each month. It makes the post longer but I am going to see if I can do that! :) I have lost my blogging a little so maybe I can get back in to it and do a post a month and some spontaneous ones, but I don't want to get ahead of myself!
We have not stopped since winter break ended and I felt like January would never end! Kendall is at school ALL day, that is not an exaggeration, it is real life. He is working so hard to do well in school and it is really paying off! Things get lonely over here but Landon keeps me busy and on my toes! Our little family is on our second round of colds in the last month so I will be SO excited when cold season is OVER!
With the new year I always become very overwhelmed and consumed with new goals, especially because I got a little lazy at the end of last year. Although, I have come to realize that getting caught up in a to-do list to accomplish those goals, can at times get in the way of the small joys in life. I sometimes find myself getting too caught up to get things done instead of doing what is important in my life... MY FAMILY! I have found myself trying to keep Landon occupied so I can do things around the house instead of playing with Landon. Lately I have made sure to get those things I NEED to get done during nap times and bed time and focused more on Landon and let me tell you, we are both much happier!
I have said this before, but being a mom is not easy but is wonderful! So shame on me for trying to multitask too much and trust me I still have my faults and always will but I have been spending more time with my little guy and Kendall (when he doesn't have school) and life is perfectly imperfect! Yes that is cliche but that is the best way to put it. Each day I feel like I have so much to do and a lot of the time I do not get them done so I have made those things my goals for the year and are working hard to do them. One thing I have realized is I need to wake up earlier, that I am still awful at it but am determined to get that down by the end of the year. I know that if I do this my stuff can get done earlier so I can be the best momma I can to Landon each day. All of you are probably laughing me going "What the heck do you do all, you are a stay at home mom?!" Well with a baby on the move and destroying everything I am constantly tailing him, cleaning up after our messes, doing laundry (all the time) and working when I can!! So they may sound like a little but it takes up my days and I am just fine with that.
Okay, so besides my blah blah goals talk, let me update all of you on the star of my life, little Landon Reynold. Now that boy may be small but man is he mighty! At almost 10 months old he weighs 19.11 pounds and his height is 28.5 inches, but don;t worry his head is in the 90%, so he must have a big, smart brain in there! ;) He crawls over everything and is starting to get brave and make tiny steps holding or reaching for me but I am in NO hurry for him to walk. He is still is not saying Mama but is starting to say Dada to Kendall and that is just the cutest thing ever! He is also babbling all the time and now has to investigate everything with is adorable, chubby, little fingers. Something NOT so cute... my tiny little guy had the biggest poop IN THE BATHTUB last night! EW, the grossest thing ever! Good thing Kendall has the skills from his last job to clean it up. :) It was hard to be mad when Landon just gave his big grin and laughed. Besides being a master pooper Landon loves to knock the Playstation controllers down and play with them, bang on everything that is standing height for him, "play" and crawl on top of the guitar and play in the fridge and dishwasher while I am not looking. He is also becoming more and more interested in books as he laughs and babbles while I read to him. He is finding new joy in his joy each day and I can just see those wheels turning in his mind. Landon is our greatest joy, we are so happy to be his parents and love that we have the opportunity to help me learn and grow!
Kendall and I have also had a HUGE tender mercy in our lives. As many of you know, we are on a bond agreement with our apartment complex because we are poor grad students. Well that bond agreement for low income families was ending and our rent was going up to $1,932 a month, that was almost double of what we were paying! The rent was supposed to go up this month and Kendall and I were getting on the school housing wait list because the rent was a lower than what our new rent would be and still close to the school. Well, this week I got a call from our manager telling us that our rent was not being raised and that the program was being renewed for at least the next couple of years! I seriously almost started crying with joy! This may not seem like a big deal but to us who are on student loans, it was the best news ever! We now can finish making our apartment ours and we don't have to move for the fourth time this year! Let me tell you people, God is real and he listens to our prayers! God has blessed us with so many tender mercies that I know that without Him as the center of my life, I would not be as happy as I am. Having our rent stay low and allow us to stay where we are may be small to most but to me it was like Christmas morning times a thousand!
Below are pictures from Thanksgiving, Christmas and a few others including family pictures we took in December. Happy day and happy week!
